Thank you for sharing. I resonate with so many pieces of this especially feeling the grief about those that are not open to hearing the truth and moving toward growth that comes from breaking the patterns, cycles of dysfunction .. content to stay in their bubble of self delusions. We want people we care about to evolve with us .. and connecting this desire to my own need for belonging is a perspective I hadn’t considered before .. but feels true.

“I could no longer confuse peace with pretending” is such a clear line. So many women are taught to keep the family story intact, even when it costs them their own reality. Choosing truth can be heartbreaking, but silence has a cost too.
Exactly. Sometimes “keeping the peace” really means everyone else gets comfort while you carry the cost. That question — whose peace is this? — cuts right through the performance of it.
